Centro Cultural Nuestra América Returning to the knowledge to revive Mexican’s roots 45.9% of Yucatan Penynsula in Mexico live below the poverty line. We worked on giving identity to a place that revives Mexican’s values through the equal access to traditions and knowledge Client: Centro Cultural Nuestra America Date: June 2013 Fields of Work 360º Branding Development Challenge & Outcome Centro Cultural Nuestra America was created to be the cultural and educational center of Mérida, Yucatán Penynsula in Mexico. Providing equal and free access to learning materials, Nuestra America houses a specialized library with more than 300,000 titles, a 6,000 volumes, newspaper library, photo library, exhibition galleries, workshops, theater, study and research spaces, children’s educational space, restaurant and store. Our challenge was to create an integrated branding system that represents the essence of the building as well as the complexity of the different sectors that the cultural center has. A dedicated space to thought, study and creation, Nuestra America elevates the knowledge as the driver for the creation of culture honoring both spanish and indigenous roots. This way, the logotype represents the fusion of both traditions originated during colonial times and the visual system was inspired by books and the ex libris sign. The sun inspires the yellow color and the pattern can be taken from different indigenous walls’ designs.
